Despite the fact that, according to experts, 90% of the Russian market is saturated with poultry of domestic breeding, a farmer from the Muslyumovsky district is determined.
In the Muslyumovsky district of Tatarstan, farmer Irek Khamadishin is nurturing an ambitious idea to create his own breed of geese. His farm, AgroLider, with 14,000 breeding stock, has already become one of the largest in the republic. With the support of the leadership and scientists of the Federal Scientific Center "All-Russian Scientific Research and Technological Institute of Poultry" (VNITIP), a roadmap has been developed for creating a breeding and reproduction facility.
"I want to breed a European bird, large and distinctive, so that it differs from others," the farmer shares, quoted by Kazanfirst. Although the idea of a "cap" resembling a tubeteika had to be abandoned, as noted by scientist Yakov Royter, chief research fellow and head of the "Genetics and Breeding" division, the main emphasis will be placed on productive qualities.
The project requires significant investment — according to Khamadishin's estimates, payback could take 10–20 years. Processing feathers and down could become a promising direction, with demand growing in all countries. The global market for these products is forecast to reach $2.47 billion by 2029.
As Royter emphasizes, the success of the enterprise depends on creating the appropriate material base and complying with all breeding requirements. But if the project is implemented, the Tatar goose could not only regain its position on the Russian market but also become a new regional brand, continuing traditions reflected even in the folk celebration "Kaz omese" — the goose feather festival.
Earlier it was reported that Tatarstan had developed new rules for issuing marriage permits to minors under 16.
