More than 100 events will be held in Kazan during the ten-day campaign for people with disabilities: 440 families will receive assistance.

      During the Decade of Persons with Disabilities, which will take place in Kazan from December 1 to 10, 440 families raising children with disabilities will receive financial support from the city budget. About 3.5 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes. More than 100 events have also been prepared for people with disabilities, noted Azat Abzalov, deputy head of the city executive committee.

      The city authorities will stage concerts, festivals, master classes, exhibitions, charity drives and creative meetings. Key events include the republican competition-festival for children with special needs "Listening with the Heart", the creativity festival for people with disabilities "Let’s Hold Hands, Friends", the gala concert "Wave of Kindness", theatrical performances, an inclusive ball and the charity festival "Road of Kindness".

      A separate part of the program is devoted to sports. Competitions for participants with special needs will be held in football, floorball, table tennis, boccia and chess, as well as a tournament among veterans of the SVO (special military operation). Employment centers will hold job fairs and Employers’ Days. During the Decade all municipal museums will be free for people with disabilities.

      Currently more than 84,000 people with disabilities live in Kazan, including 6,500 children. The city has a well-developed network of inclusive education and leisure: 825 specialized groups have been opened in kindergartens, almost 3,000 children with disabilities and special needs attend schools, and more than 780 children study in supplementary education institutions.

      "Today there is confidence that if a person with a disability encounters a problem, there is somewhere to turn and they will receive help. And the events within the Decade are another opportunity to draw the attention of all residents to the problems of people with disabilities," reacted to the report Denis Kalinkin, first deputy head of Kazan.

      Recall that this year families with children with disabilities in Kazan will receive a one-time payment of 10,000 rubles. Eligible are families raising two or more minor children with disabilities; families with minor children where both parents have a group I or II disability; single parents with a group I or II disability raising minor children (including children with disabilities); and single parents who are caring for children with disabilities.
