A key participant in the high-profile case of the attack on Irina Shevyreva was transferred to a remote detention center to isolate him from the other defendants after giving a confession.
The head of the security service of the company Volga-Avtodor, Andrey Cherkasin, was moved from the Kazan pre-trial detention center to the detention facility in the town of Menzelinsk after he gave a confession in the attempted murder case. This was reported by Realnoe Vremya. The Menzelinsk court officially announced Cherkasin’s confession of guilt. Investigators petitioned to extend the preventive measure, and the court granted the request, keeping the defendant in custody until February 14, 2026. At the same time in Kazan, the arrest was extended for the same period for the alleged organizer — Honored Builder of Tatarstan and the victim’s father-in-law, Stanislav Shevyrev — as well as for Rafis Sultanov. The latter confessed to running over Irina Shevyreva with an electric scooter in 2024 and to the knife attack on October 14, 2025 near Gymnasium No. 94. According to the investigation, the victim managed to resist and survive, but saving her life required the efforts of doctors.
The Sovetsky Court of Kazan also extended house arrest for Cherkasin’s subordinate Bulat Gallyamov. He admitted that, on the orders of his immediate superior, he conducted surveillance and organized the attack on the victim. Gallyamov also said that he heard from Cherkasin that the order for the crime came from Stanislav Shevyrev. This witness is currently under state protection.
Stanislav Shevyrev denies any involvement in organizing the attempt. The victim’s husband, Ivan Shevyrev, who was detained in October, also denies guilt; he was released on a written undertaking not to leave while under suspicion. It was previously reported that the perpetrator of the attack on Irina Shevyreva was brought to Kazan from Tajikistan.
