Tatarstan residents were reminded of the amended rules for obtaining a hunting license.

      New rules for obtaining a hunting license have come into force in Tatarstan, said Radik Mutakharov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Bioresources of the Republic of Tatarstan. The amendments came into effect on September 1, 2025.

      He clarified that now anyone wishing to obtain a hunting license must confirm knowledge of the hunting minimum. It includes safety requirements, hunting rules, the basics of wild animal biology, as well as practical skills: handling firearms, providing first aid, navigation in the field, and game processing.

      The knowledge check is conducted after completing training courses with a hunting rights holder or after independently mastering the program with confirmation in the form of recommendations from two hunters with at least five years’ experience. The exam is held similarly to the GIBDD class, includes 100 questions, and to pass you must answer at least 75 correctly.

      Mutakharov noted that the new rules have reduced the number of people wishing to obtain a hunting license by roughly ten times. Previously many obtained it solely to buy weapons; now the process has become more conscious. photo: State Committee on Bioresources of the Republic of Tatarstan
