A resident of Chelny had an illegally imported Nissan seized.

      A resident of Naberezhnye Chelny was found to have a car that had been brought into Russia in violation of customs legislation. This was reported by the press service of the Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Office.

      As the supervisory authorities established, in 2021 the man imported a Nissan passenger car from abroad. To avoid paying customs duties, the vehicle was declared as being used for international transport. However, in fact the owner used the car for personal purposes and drove it freely within the country.

      After the violations were discovered, at the prosecutor’s request customs authorities carried out an additional inspection. As a result, the car was detained, and the owner was assessed additional customs duties, late-payment interest and fines totaling more than 2 million rubles.

      The supervisory agency clarified that if the assessed amounts are not paid, the vehicle may be seized in favor of the state by court decision.
