Neftekhimik defeated Admiral 3–2.
Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk defeated Vladivostok’s Admiral in a KHL regular-season home game. Regulation time and overtime ended 2–2, and the winner was decided in a shootout — 3–2 in favor of the hosts.
The first goal of the game was scored by Neftekhimik defenseman Timur Khairullin. It was his third goal of the current season. Assists were credited to Aleksandr Dergachyov and Luka Profak.
In the last minute of the second period the visitors restored the tie — Admiral defenseman Libor Šulák scored. Shortly afterwards the Nizhnekamsk side took the lead again thanks to a precise shot from forward Nikita Khoruzhev. That goal was the forward’s third in the last five games.
In the third period Admiral equalized again — Šulák completed a brace and scored his ninth goal of the season. In overtime both teams had chances to end the game early but failed to convert.
In the shootout the decisive attempt was converted by Neftekhimik forward Nikita Artamonov.
This victory was Nizhnekamsk’s third in their last five games. The team has 45 points after 44 games and rose to fifth place in the Eastern Conference, overtaking Chelyabinsk’s Traktor.
