      The FSBI "Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan" warns of the intensity of meteorological phenomena from 18:00 on January 8 until 18:00 on January 9, 2026. On January 9, 2026, across the Republic of Tatarstan and in the city of Kazan, in some places the following are expected:

      - at night and in the morning — fog;

      - at night and during the day — black ice; on roads — severe icy conditions.

      The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Republic of Tatarstan informs:

      In case of fog:

      If you are outdoors and notice the fog thickening, you should take measures to avoid losing your orientation in the forest or on the water. Fog poses a danger to all road users. When driving in fog, avoid unnecessary lane changes, overtaking and passing. Most road accidents in foggy conditions occur with the vehicle moving ahead. It is important to consider that fog deceives distance — it is advisable to increase the usual following distance and reduce speed.

      Avoid sudden braking: if you need to stop, reduce speed smoothly. Press the brake pedal several times to send a warning signal to drivers behind you. Driving in fog increases driver fatigue; extra caution is not excessive.

      If possible, refrain from long-distance trips.

      When driving in conditions of poor visibility, avoid unnecessary lane changes, overtaking and passing.

      Avoid sudden braking: if you need to stop, reduce speed smoothly. Press the brake pedal several times to send a warning signal to drivers behind you.

      If possible, avoid trips and refrain from long walks outdoors.

      For drivers:

      1. When driving in these conditions, refrain from unnecessary lane changes, overtaking and passing;

      2. Pay attention to the technical condition of the vehicle, especially the braking system and the condition of the tires;

      3. Avoid sudden braking; if you need to stop, reduce speed smoothly;

      4. Press the brake pedal several times to send a warning signal to drivers behind you;

      5. All lights must be operational;

      6. Drive at a speed that ensures safety in areas with heavy traffic, near schools, at intersections and bridges, as well as on curves and descents.

      Pedestrians are recommended to:

      1. Be extremely attentive when crossing streets and roads;

      2. Cross the street only at marked pedestrian crossings; remember that due to poor visibility and slippery road surfaces, a driver needs more time to stop a vehicle;

      3. Use overpasses or underpasses to cross the road whenever possible;

      4. Do not run across the road in front of moving traffic;

      5. Walk facing the flow of traffic only;

      6. Use a high-visibility vest or attach reflective elements to your clothing.

      In case of black ice:

      Prepare slip-resistant footwear. Move cautiously, without hurrying; step with the whole sole, taking into account surface irregularities. Elderly people are recommended to use a cane with a rubber tip or a special walking stick with pointed spikes. If you slip, sit down to reduce the height of a fall.

      Black ice is a serious danger to all road users. Drivers should avoid sudden braking: if you need to stop, reduce speed smoothly. When braking, press the brake pedal several times to send a warning signal to drivers behind you. Pay attention to the technical condition of the vehicle, especially the braking system, and the condition of the tires. All lights must be operational. Use a high-visibility vest at stops.
