       The elections for the head of the Republic of Tatarstan will take place on the unified voting day, September 14. To date, four candidates have applied to participate in the elections for the head of the republic.

       The Republican Central Election Commission has officially registered Rustam Minnikhanov, the current head of the republic, from the "United Russia" party, who received unanimous support from the members of the Central Election Commission, as well as Vitaly Smirnov, nominated by the "Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice," as candidates for the upcoming regional leadership elections. This was reported by the press service of the regional Central Election Commission. "The Central Election Commission of the republic, after checking all the submitted documents for nomination and registration of candidates, registered two candidates for the position of head (raisa) of the Republic of Tatarstan: Rustam Minnikhanov and Vitaly Smirnov," the official statement reads. As stated by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of the republic, Andrey Kondratiev, the commission conducted a thorough check and confirmed the validity of all 403 submitted signatures in support of Minnikhanov, including 100 signatures from deputies of various levels. It is particularly noted that the candidacy of the current Raisa was supported by representatives from 45 districts and urban districts of the republic, as clarified by "Tatar-inform." To date, four candidates have already applied for the elections for the raisa. The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan is expected to officially announce the registration of two more candidates – Ruslan Yusupov (from the LDPR) and Khafiz Mirgalimov (from the CPRF) – by August 8 after all documents have been verified. Let us remind you that the elections for the head of Tatarstan are scheduled for the unified voting day on September 14, 2025. Alongside the elections for the raisa of the republic, municipal elections for more than 7,500 parliamentarians will also take place in the region on the same day, as well as by-elections for a deputy of the State Council of the republic in the Meleksky single-member district.
