More than 17,000 international students are studying in Kazan.

      In higher educational institutions and organizations of secondary vocational education in Kazan, more than 164 thousand students are studying. This was reported by the press service of the city administration. It is reported that among the students, 17,032 are foreign citizens. The largest number of students arrived from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, India, and China. Foreigners most often choose medical specialties for their studies. It is noted that the most sought-after university among foreign students remains Kazan Federal University, where 8,438 people from other countries are receiving education. About 2,900 foreign citizens study at Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev, and 960 people at Kazan State Power Engineering University. In addition to the international flow, Kazan actively accepts students from other regions of Russia. The total number of students from other cities is 93,205. Of these, 75,914 students study at universities, and another 17,291 at technical schools and colleges. It is specified that about half of the students from other cities—46,028 people—are residents of the districts of Tatarstan. Another 47,177 students arrived in Kazan from other subjects of the Russian Federation. Residents from remote regions of the country, including Vladivostok, Yakutsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and Altai, choose the capital of the republic for their education.
