The new terminal of Kazan Airport has received approval from the Main State Expert Review Board.
The project for the construction of the third terminal at Kazan International Airport named after Gabdulla Tukay has been approved by the Main State Expert Review Board of Russia. This was reported by Rosaviation. The documentation was developed by the subordinate institute "AeroProject" in collaboration with Kazan GiproNIAviaprom.
The area of the new complex will exceed 38,000 square meters. The building will have three above-ground floors and one underground level. The terminal's capacity will be 1,500 passengers per hour and more than 5.7 million people per year. These figures are calculated taking into account the projected growth in passenger traffic until 2033.
The architectural solution envisions a concise appearance with transparent facade panels and panoramic elevators. Internal processes will be maximally automated using Russian software. In front of the terminal, there will be parking for more than 600 vehicles, including spaces for people with limited mobility.
As noted by Rosaviation head Dmitry Yadrov, the new terminal will expand the capabilities of the existing infrastructure to service domestic routes, which account for the majority of flights. Kazan Airport is among the top ten largest in Russia in terms of passenger traffic: in 2025, it served 5.3 million people.
