By the end of 2025, the average check in catering establishments in Tatarstan rose to 2217 rubles. This amount is 11% higher than that recorded a year earlier.
The gastronomic industry of Tatarstan ranked first in the Volga Federal District and eighth in Russia by the end of 2025. This data was provided by the executive director of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of the Republic, Galina Sharafutdinova, at the organization's board meeting. According to Vesti Tatarstan, the turnover of public catering enterprises in the region amounted to 97 billion rubles, exceeding the previous year's figure by 13 billion. A significant contribution to this figure was made by the tourist flow: guests of the republic spent 7.7 billion rubles on food. The average check in catering establishments rose to 2217 rubles, which is 11 percent higher than the value of 2024. According to Sharafutdinova's assessment, this indicates a price increase of 7-10 percent; however, she emphasized that prices cannot be raised indefinitely. At the same time, earlier media reported that there is a trend of declining demand for restaurant services and their visits in general across Russia. It was noted that restaurants are facing difficulties due to the outflow of guests. The wave of closures of catering establishments has been ongoing since the second half of 2024, when the demand for dining out decreased, and now visiting a restaurant has become an unaffordable luxury for many. It was previously reported that Tatarstan became the most popular destination for the May holidays in Russia. According to nationwide statistics, the republic accounted for 16.3 percent of all travel bookings, and the demand for hotel accommodations increased by 75 percent.
