The decision to merge the two festivals was made in the anniversary year for "Altyn kaläm," which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. Aidar Salimgaraev, head of the Republican Agency for Press and Mass Communications "Tatmedia," emphasized the importance of supporting school journalism. He noted that projects like "Yalkyn" help young people develop their creative abilities and realize their role in society, fostering a sense of responsibility and patriotism. Applications for participation are accepted until the end of March 2026. Teams from school media in Tatarstan, including newspapers, magazines, radio and television studios, and SMM projects, can participate in the festival. The jury will select the best teams for the finals. Azat Kadyrov, the Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, noted that supporting youth initiatives is a priority task for the state. The "Yalkyn" festival inspires students to create quality content and contributes to strengthening patriotic values. The finals will take place in April and will determine the winners in two categories: "School Media in Russian" and "School Media in Tatar," with the main prize being the Grand Prix for "Best School Media."
