Three days of mourning have been declared in the Nizhnekamsk district following a fire at "Nizhnekamskneftekhim." As a result of the incident, three people died, and another 72 were injured.
Radmir Belyaev, head of the Nizhnekamsk district, announced three days of mourning in connection with the fire at the "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" enterprise. In his address, he emphasized that this is a time of grief and support. All entertainment and mass events in the district have been canceled, and state flags will be flown at half-mast on the buildings of institutions. "This is a time of grief and support. We share the pain of loss together with the families of the deceased," said the district head's statement. According to the company's press service, two factory employees died as a result of the tragedy. General Director Marat Falyakhov reported that 72 people sought medical assistance, of whom 21 were hospitalized, and two are in serious condition. Ten injured individuals were transported to Moscow by a special aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Tatarstan, three firefighters were injured during the search and rescue operations and firefighting. The commander of the unit, Marat Nazipov, died. "Upon arriving at the scene as part of the duty crew, he immediately began combat deployment to extinguish the fire and rescue people. At that moment, a sudden explosion occurred, resulting in 27-year-old Marat Nazipov sustaining injuries incompatible with life," the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Tatarstan reported. Information about a powerful explosion at the factory in Nizhnekamsk became known on the afternoon of March 31. The fire was assigned the fifth, maximum, level of complexity, and the area of the fire exceeded 2,000 square meters. Later, footage taken at the scene of the incident appeared on the internet.
