      On April 10, the premiere of the legendary performance "Әлдермештән Әлмәндәр / The Old Man from the Village of Aldermesh" will take place on the new stage of the G. Kamal Theater. The mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, along with his wife Gulnara and daughter Aliya, attended the preview the day before. The showing gathered leaders of the republic, various ministries, agencies, well-known public figures, entrepreneurs, university heads, and representatives of the legislative body. The performance, based on the legendary play by Tufan Minnullin for Tatar theater, has found a new sound in the production by the artistic director of the theater, Ilgiz Zainiev. The main role of Almendar is played by the People's Artist of Tatarstan and Honored Artist of Russia Ramil Tukhvatullin. The set designer is Sergey Skoromokhov, choreographer Salima Aminova, and composer Almaz Monasypov. Previously, in the production by Marcel Salimzhanov, the play was staged at the theater from 1976 to 2009, becoming one of the achievements of Tatar theatrical art. Over 33 years, the performance has won the love of audiences, has been repeatedly awarded various state prizes, and the image of Almendar has become a symbol of folk wisdom and zest for life. "Both young and old know the story of the 91-year-old old man Almendar from the village of Aldermesh, who, despite his advanced age, has no intention of leaving this mortal world under any pretext and unambiguously declares this to the Angel of Death, who has descended from Heaven for him. He has many things to do on this earth: he needs to finish building his dacha, look after his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and finally get married...," the annotation to the performance states. "The new approach to the legendary text will inevitably become a reminiscence of the past, but also a look from the present into the future of the theatrical canon...". In this new stage incarnation of the famous play, Ilgiz Zainiev treats the classical text as a living material, offering the audience not only nostalgia for the legendary production but also a relevant perspective on eternal themes - the meaning of life, spiritual harmony, the power of good, and human dignity.
