The President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, met with the chairman of the Turkish-Russian Business Council of the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Committee, Izzet Ekmekçibaşı. The meeting took place at the Government House of the Republic. The Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, also participated. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tatarstan. Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation with Turkish partners. According to him, the republic acts as an effective link between Russia and Turkey. The trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkey reaches 5 billion dollars. The parties noted promising areas for cooperation, including the automotive industry, machine engineering and metalworking, agriculture, light industry, tourism, construction, and information technology. The Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Committee was established in 1986. Its main task is to assist Turkish companies in conducting business abroad. The committee also coordinates the private sector within the framework of international relations, stimulates its activities, and organizes visits of business delegations and official meetings. Currently, DEIK covers 152 business councils for cooperation with different countries. The committee includes 1,600 representatives from councils of more than 750 companies.
