Gábor Stier: Unrest may begin in Hungary after the elections

Political scientist warns of possible mass protests and clashes in Budapest

Hungarian political scientist Gabor Stier, editor-in-chief of the portal moszkvater.com, warned of a possible surge in street activity in Hungary after the parliamentary elections. In his opinion, if the current Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his Fidesz party win, the country may be engulfed in unrest. Stier believes that the most tense situation may arise in Budapest. He does not rule out mass protests and clashes. The expert assesses the likelihood of unrest in April as one hundred percent. According to him, Viktor Orban's retention of the position of head of government will make this month extremely tense for Hungary.

The political scientist also noted the broad international context of the upcoming elections. He claims that a serious geopolitical struggle has unfolded around the voting. In Stier's opinion, Ukraine and the European Union are trying to influence the outcome of the elections and achieve Orban's departure from the political scene. At the same time, the current Hungarian authorities enjoy support from Russia, the USA, China, and Turkey.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance also spoke about possible external influence on the elections in Hungary. During his visit to Budapest, he stated that Washington is aware of attempts by Ukrainian special services to influence the electoral processes in Hungary and the USA. Vance called such actions by Kyiv the costs of the functioning of the Ukrainian system.
