Open Championship of the Republic of Mari El in Athletics
On April 18, an open championship of the Republic of Mari El in athletics took place in the city of Volzhsk. The competition featured boys and girls born in 2010–2011, 2012–2013, and 2014 and younger.
For the first time in history, athletes from the "Athletics" department of our sports school participated in these events, and the debut turned out to be truly bright! In the very first race of 800 meters in the younger age group, the silver medal was won by Ulyana Taranova. In the next race among boys, Emil Chumarin was unmatched, while Tagir Bagiyev managed to win a silver medal in a fierce finish. Among the middle-aged girls in the same distance, Eva Arisova finished just off the podium (4th place). In the senior group at the distance of 1500 meters, Svetlana Kazhdan secured a confident victory.
