A gift to children at the risk of life: the dangers of motorcycles and electric scooters were discussed at a large parent meeting in Chistopol.

      Children are increasingly getting their hands on dangerous equipment, and many parents do not fully understand what kind of gift they are giving to their child. A large-scale district-wide parent meeting was held in Chistopol, dedicated to the urgent topic of monitoring the use of motorcycles, pit bikes, electric scooters, and other means of transportation by minors. Representatives of parent committees, school directors from the city and district participated, and thanks to online broadcasting, several hundred parents and educators were also involved. The meeting was opened by the head of the district executive committee and chairman of the road safety commission, Eduard Khasanov. He stated that the trend in recent years is alarming. Children are increasingly getting their hands on dangerous equipment, and many parents do not fully understand what kind of gift they are giving to their child. "Mopeds, pit bikes, ATVs, electric scooters are not toys. Dear parents! Think carefully before giving your children deadly gifts. Most are sure that nothing bad will happen to their children. But behind every dry statistic is a tragedy," Eduard Rustamovich addressed the attendees. The head of the State Traffic Inspectorate for the Chistopol district, Dmitry Zinin, presented sad statistics in his speech. Last year, there were 41 traffic accidents involving children operating motor vehicles in Tatarstan. 40 people were injured, and one child died. He accompanied his talk with photos and videos from recent accident sites. Unfortunately, this year in the Chistopol district, there has already been an accident involving a young scooter rider. In the village of Yuldus, a 12-year-old boy on an electric scooter crossed the roadway in an unauthorized place and was hit by a "Lada" car. Moreover, he had come from the city along a busy road. The child was hospitalized with bruises and abrasions. He survived, but similar cases sometimes end much worse. The meeting emphasized that parents whose child was injured while operating equipment will be held accountable. "The first criminal case in Tatarstan has already been initiated in the Kaibitsky district. The article is about involving minors in committing illegal acts and operating a vehicle that poses a danger of causing serious harm to health," explained Dmitry Zinin. The chief physician of the Chistopol Central District Hospital, Ildar Khamifov, also spoke. He talked about the severe injuries children sustain as a result of accidents and how doctors fight for their lives. In conclusion, Eduard Khasanov once again addressed the parents: "The safety of our children is the daily responsibility of every adult. We must not only prohibit but also explain, control, and, most importantly, set a good example of responsible behavior on the roads." Such meetings in the district have already become traditional. The first one took place last year before the summer holidays. The practice has been decided to continue, as well as preventive raids involving State Traffic Inspectorate employees and educators.
