An organizing committee has been formed in Tatarstan for the preparation of the Russia-ASEAN summit.

      The head of Tatarstan approved a decree on the establishment of the Republican Organizational Committee, which will be responsible for the preparation and holding of the Russia-ASEAN summit in Kazan in 2026. The document was developed in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 21, 2026, No. 268. The head of the committee is the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. His deputies include the Prime Minister of the Republic, Alexey Pesoshin, the head of the administration of the head of RT, Asgat Safarov, as well as the head of the municipal formation of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin. The secretary of the committee is the assistant to the head of Tatarstan, Gazinur Bakirov. The organizational committee includes the heads of republican ministries overseeing the areas of healthcare, culture, sports, education, economy, finance, construction, industry, transport, digital development, and youth policy. It also includes representatives of territorial divisions of federal agencies: the Russian Foreign Ministry in Kazan, the Tatarstan Customs, the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for RT, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for RT, the FSB for RT, the Rosgvardiya Administration for RT, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for RT, and the National Bank for the Republic of Tatarstan. Additionally, the rector of Kazan Federal University, the general director of Kazan Airport, the president of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Kazan and Tatarstan, and others are included. According to the approved regulations, meetings of the organizing committee will be held as needed, but no less than once a quarter. A quorum is considered met with the participation of more than half of the members, and decisions are made by a majority of votes of those present. In the event of a tie, the vote of the chairperson is decisive. The Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan has been instructed to form an operational headquarters and working groups on key areas of preparation and holding of the summit.
