Annually, from May until early August, due to the geographical features of our region, the white glow of sunset merges with the whiteness of the morning dawn – meaning that throughout the night, the whiteness on the horizon does not disappear, making it impossible to accurately determine the start of the night prayer time (Tatar: "Yastü") and the end time of "Suhur" and the start time of the morning prayer (Tatar: "Irtänge") using astronomical calculations. This is why the Council of Ulema of the Muslim Spiritual Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan has decided on the calculation of prayer times in relation to the nearest region. This decision was incorporated by the Council of Ulema into the system of calculating and counting prayer times for the calendars of the Republic of Tatarstan. We followed the opinion of Imam Shigabutdin al-Marjani, who spoke about the necessity to calculate the relation of the onset and cessation of the actual night concerning the night and morning prayers in the region where it truly occurs. For example, the city of Astrakhan is located at 46 degrees latitude and has the same longitude as Tatarstan. In Kazan, on May 5, the morning prayer according to the actual night begins at 23:54, and from May 5, with the sunset of the actual night, it no longer exists. This relative calculation gives a significantly different time from the previous day. In Kazan, the night prayer on May 5 is at 21:00, on May 6 at 21:02, on May 7 at 21:04, and so on. In Kazan, the morning prayer on May 6 is at 01:49, on May 7 at 01:47. Please monitor the prayer times in each district of Tatarstan separately.
