      Zaytuna Nasrullina was 9 when the Great Patriotic War began. On June 22, 1941, she became an adult in an instant. Her father was called up in the very first days. Her mother was left alone with five children and an elderly grandmother to care for. Times were hard, hungry... How they survived is known only to God, recalls Zaytuna apa. They met victory with tears, but her father did not return immediately. He came back in 1946. "Father came back in a greatcoat. He returned from the war alive and unharmed. This was a great joy for our entire family!" Growing up and getting married, Zaytuna apa moved to a collective farm. She worked on the farm tirelessly. Money was catastrophically lacking. But what she learned during the hungry years cannot be forgotten: to survive and raise her children, she sewed to order and wove carpets. Now Zaytuna apa lives with her son and daughter-in-law in warmth and care. There is always plenty of food on the table — the very satisfaction that was so lacking in her childhood. Life has improved. But the memory of the war has forever left a mark in her heart that even time cannot heal.
