      The Kazan Zoo has welcomed a new addition - a foal of the Chapman zebra was born, and this is the first male in the last two years, the institution's press service reported.

      Mom named Butterfly managed to give birth on her own, without the help of veterinarians. Just a few minutes after being born, the baby stood on its feet - specialists carefully examined it and confirmed that the newborn was doing well.

      For Butterfly, this is already her second foal. Her first daughter, named Sun, was born on September 23, 2024. The newborn male became the fourth zebra born in the "Zambezi River" complex. Notably, all previous births in this enclosure complex were female - Daisy, Sun, and Ballerina were born there. So, the baby boy is a real event for the zoo.
