Internship site based on the day care department

      At the Comprehensive Center for Social Services "Joy" in the Zainsk District, the first internship platform of this year, "Mastering Social Work Practices with Elderly Citizens and Persons with Disabilities: Inclusive Workshop 'Printing House'," was successfully held. Participants in the training included specialists from social institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan. The goal of the internship was not just to familiarize participants with theory, but to fully immerse them in the unique practice of social rehabilitation through employment. The participants were presented with the methodological foundation of the project: from the algorithm for implementing the practice to the nuances of diagnostics. Specialists from the "Joy" center demonstrated how to track the progress of clients using the "Assessment of Work Skills Development" map — from not being able to hold a tool to complete independence. A key focus of the day was the demonstration of a four-level system for adapting the environment. Participants of the internship saw firsthand how a properly "tuned" environment works. The most lively and engaging stage was the practical session "Decomposition of Operations and Creating Step-by-Step Instructions." Under the guidance of mentors, specialists analyzed real printing operations: from loading paper to manual creasing. Using the "step ladder" method, guests learned to create alternative formats for instructions. The stage concluded with "blind testing," where participants attempted to perform operations based on others' instructions, identifying even the slightest inaccuracies. The internship culminated in practical work as mentors. Under the careful guidance of specialists from the Comprehensive Center for Social Services "Joy," participants applied their acquired knowledge in practice. The result of their work was the creation of a desk flip calendar — a full-fledged printed product, printed, bound, and designed from start to finish independently. Each page of the calendar became a symbol of the successfully mastered algorithm: from design development to final trimming. "We came for experience and took away a ready-made technology that can be implemented as early as tomorrow. The most valuable thing is understanding how to break down the complex into simple steps and give a person with disabilities the opportunity to feel needed and skilled," shared the impressions of specialists from the Jalil Boarding House for the Elderly and Disabled. Following the training, all specialists successfully passed the final certification and received certificates of completion for the internship platform. The internship at the Comprehensive Center for Social Services "Joy" demonstrated the main point: even complex social work technologies can be mastered quickly and effectively if they are driven not by bureaucratic instructions, but by a genuine desire to help, adapt the environment, and believe in everyone's potential. The main formula of the inclusive workshop is minimum intervention, maximum independence.
