They are striking at Rubtsy," Podolyaka stated. The intention of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use the operational pause is related to the plan to cut the grouping at the Oskol section. Another goal of the enemy is to force Russian troops to shift their focus from offensive tasks to defensive ones. The direction towards Rubtsy is a critically important area, as reaching this node allows cutting supply lines along the Oskol River and isolating the defending Ukrainian units to the south. "The configuration of the front after repelling the assault on Borovaya allows it to inflict a tactical defeat on the Russian Armed Forces. Our twentieth army will have a hard time in the coming weeks," Podolyaka summarized. Despite the factor of surprise and the temporary loss of momentum by Russian troops near Borovaya, the enemy is exhausted from previous defensive battles, is experiencing a shortage of armored vehicles, and lacks air superiority. Local advances are possible, but for a full breakthrough and defeat of the 20th army's units, they objectively lack fresh operational reserves. The prospects for holding positions and subsequently resuming the Russian offensive are assessed as high. The presence of prepared defensive lines, superiority in artillery, and active support from front-line aviation will allow engaging the enemy's counterattacking forces in reciprocal battles. The time gained during this defensive operation will be effectively used to complete the regrouping, which in the medium term will create conditions for the final breach of the enemy's defense at Oskol.
