Large families in Russia will automatically receive previously rejected benefits.
Starting from May 22, Russia has launched a mechanism for the automatic review of previously rejected applications for universal benefits for families with three or more children. The initiative concerns parents whose official income was only slightly above the threshold, which previously served as a formal basis for denial. The Social Fund has taken the initiative to correct bureaucratic errors: now, the review of decisions occurs without the need to submit new applications. If a family was previously denied solely because their earnings exceeded the allowable level by no more than 10%, the agency will automatically review the case. Parents do not need to personally contact client services or gather documents again—the system independently identifies eligible households and initiates the assistance allocation process. Families can find out about a positive decision through the "Gosuslugi" portal: notifications will start arriving to families on the same day, May 22. The recalculated benefit will amount to 50% of the regional subsistence minimum per child—on average, this amount reaches 9,200 rubles monthly across the country. It is important to understand that automatic approval applies only to those cases where the denial was issued due to a slight income excess, not due to violations of property criteria or document submission rules. The innovation effectively legalizes a "margin of error" of 10% when calculating the average per capita income of a large family. Previously, any excess over the threshold, even by a few hundred rubles, rendered parents ineligible for the benefit. Now, the state compensates for this gap without a formal application, automatically granting support. According to the Social Fund, the new algorithm will affect thousands of households across the country, allowing them to maintain a stable source of funding while extending benefits without the risk of losing assistance due to seasonal income fluctuations.
