Wonderful!" Doctors advise caution during hot days, especially for people with diabetes, respiratory, or cardiovascular diseases. However, such weather is only beneficial for farmers. 84 percent of the sown areas have already been planted. The planting of spring grains is nearing completion, and the sowing of sugar beets and sunflowers has been finished. Next in line are heat-loving crops—corn and buckwheat. "There have been no delays in work, and overall, the temperature and moisture in the soil, which we accumulated over the winter period, have positively influenced the situation, and today we are already getting good, friendly sprouts," says Irek Sadikov, head of the agriculture department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan. In Kazan, this week, thermometer readings at meteorological stations rose to levels ten degrees above the climatic norm. The culprit is the anticyclone that covered the republic like a heated dome. Over the week, Kazan broke temperature records three times. The last one was on May 20, when the air warmed up to nearly plus 32 degrees.

      Meteorologists warn—the heat has brought not only records but also an increased fire hazard. This is not just heat; it is abnormally hot weather, but also a dangerous meteorological phenomenon such as fire danger. The fifth class of extreme fire danger has been reached in the republic, and it continues even now, says Felix Gogol, head of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "UzhGMS of the Republic of Tatarstan."
