      The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin commented on the bill from the State Council of Tatarstan, which is planned to be considered today in the second reading. The bill proposes to hold accountable those who commit offenses abroad if they are directed against the interests of Russia. As a precautionary measure, even the arrest of the property of relocants is suggested. "Those who have lost their way, committed an offense, and then continue to discredit our Armed Forces or the Russian Federation must understand that today we are adopting norms that will allow us to seize property that belongs to a person who has gone abroad, on the territory of the Russian Federation. They may lose not only their homeland but also their property, which they have here thanks to their homeland and its citizens," Volodin stated to journalists. According to him, many representatives of creative professions, who were "applauded, gifted, and paid not only with love but also materially," have accumulated significant assets and property in Russia. "To them, I want to say once again: there is only one homeland, and we will do everything to protect it. It is better for you to take responsibility and acknowledge your guilt, and then the court will consider your genuine remorse and reward you accordingly. But if such actions continue, today we, having adopted the law, will do everything to hold you accountable regardless of what is beyond the borders. And property will allow us to take action and punish the guilty," the Speaker of the State Duma believes.

      Let us remind you that the bill was introduced by the State Council of Tatarstan and now former State Duma deputy Ayrat Farakhov in the fall of 2024. It was adopted in the first reading in April 2025. At the same time, the idea of holding relocants accountable was first expressed back in 2022, but the document was then returned for revision.
