According to sources from "Real Time," the former judge of the Supreme Court of Tatarstan, Rizvan Yusupov, was stripped of his status as a retired judge the day before in Kazan. The Qualification Collegium of Judges of Tatarstan terminated his retirement after reviewing documents from the FSB of Tatarstan, which concerned the judge's awareness of his children's acquisition of U.S. citizenship and the concealment of this information. Along with his status, the former judge loses his judicial pension and immunity.
The issue was addressed by the Qualification Collegium of Judges of Tatarstan. A report regarding Yusupov was submitted there last year, signed by the leadership of the regional FSB. This document was not made public, but, as they say, it did not contain any proposal to revoke his status.

To thoroughly examine the presented information, a special commission was created within the Qualification Collegium of Judges, and its conclusion was presented at yesterday's meeting.
The consideration took place with the participation of Rizvan Yusupov himself. The decision was made by a majority vote following a secret ballot, sources in the judicial community told "Real Time."
The former judge had been retired for just over a year. He left the position voluntarily, but against the backdrop of criminal prosecution of his relatives.
Criminal cases were initiated against the retired judge's wife, Elvira Yusupova, and their 20-year-old son, Gayaz, under Article 330.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for a penalty of up to 200,000 rubles or compulsory labor for up to 400 hours for failing to notify about the existence of another citizenship.

The son and still underage daughter of the Yusupovs became U.S. citizens due to being born in that country. The judge previously explained that his wife traveled across the ocean while pregnant for medical reasons, and information about the newborns was sent to the Russian consulate.
Questions regarding the circumstances of the children's legalization in both countries arose only against the backdrop of escalating international tensions. It was established that the Yusupov children were registered in the Kazan registry office based on birth certificates issued here, not abroad.
The case against Gayaz Yusupov for one episode was considered by the Supreme Court of Chuvashia, which fined him 40,000 rubles last year. The decision was upheld by the Fourth Court of General Jurisdiction.
A similar case against Elvira Yusupova for two episodes was assigned to a magistrate in Kazan. In February 2026, she was sentenced to a criminal fine of 80,000 rubles, and at present, the sentence has already come into effect. This was reported to "Real Time" by the press service of the Vakhitovsky Court of Kazan, where appeals from the defense were considered in May.
