Arabic language in schools: changes are on the horizon
Starting from September 1, 2028, a program for studying the Arabic language will be implemented in Russian schools. This was previously announced by the head of the Ministry of Education, Sergey Kravtsov. The new subject will be included in the curricula, but for now, there are no plans for it to be part of the Unified State Exam format.
When to expect the Unified State Exam in Arabic?
The Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science clarified that significant preparatory work is required to introduce a full-fledged exam. It is necessary to develop educational and methodological complexes, control and measuring materials, and conduct large-scale testing. According to the agency's estimates, this will take until 2033. Thus, graduates will be able to take Arabic as part of the Unified State Exam no earlier than the specified date.
What about social studies?
The head of the Ministry of Education also announced plans to adjust the Unified State Exam in social studies. However, changes will not affect the exam for at least two years. In the next academic year, the subject will remain unchanged — graduates will face the familiar format of testing. The introduction of Arabic into the school curriculum and the prospect of a new Unified State Exam reflect the growing interest in Eastern languages and the expansion of educational horizons.
