Bridge between cultures: how KFU graduates conquered China and returned with a new baggage of knowledge
The dual degree program of Kazan Innovative University and Chinese universities is a true school of life, self-discipline, and intercultural dialogue. Recently, our students returned from China, successfully defending their theses and receiving diplomas from two countries. We asked the graduates to share their impressions of what it is like to study at the intersection of two educational systems. Dilyara Gabdrakhmanova has progressed from a bachelor's and master's student at KIU to a current lecturer at her alma mater. She spent two years at Liaoning University (Dandong), where she obtained a diploma in teaching Chinese. "These two years have been the most intense and transformative on my journey. I am endlessly grateful to the mentors from KIU who laid a solid foundation for my knowledge, and to the Chinese teachers who showed the language through the lens of living culture. Dandong became a second home for me, but now I am returning to the familiar walls of KIU to pass on my knowledge and experience to new students," shares Dilyara. Alisa Rastorgueva participated in the "2+2" program. Writing and defending two theses required her maximum concentration; however, the student was able to successfully complete this stage thanks to clear guidance. "The most valuable thing in this process is the support of my home university. The teachers at KIU provided me with invaluable methodological assistance: curators and academic supervisors helped adapt academic standards, correctly structure the theses, and understand all the nuances of formatting. This confidence and professional support from the university allowed me to successfully defend my work and step out of my comfort zone," notes Alisa. Rozalina Kadyrova considers studying on a KIU grant her main life discovery. In two years at Eastern Liaoning University, she made a huge professional leap, raising her Chinese language level from HSK 3 to HSK 5. In addition to her studies, the girl led a vibrant life: she participated in cheerleading competitions, sang in contests, and traveled around China. "Different educational standards became a school of stress resilience for me. I am grateful to KIU for this rare opportunity and grant support, and to the Chinese teachers for their patience and help in adaptation. This experience shaped my character and gave me confidence in my abilities," emphasizes Rozalina. Roman Morozov also mastered the dual degree program, combining assignments from Russian and Chinese teachers. "The Russian university provided me with a strong fundamental theory, while studying in China allowed me to immerse myself in the language environment and culture. This experience taught me effective time management and independence. Obtaining a bachelor's degree from two countries is proof that any, even the most challenging path, leads to invaluable results," summarizes Roman.
The stories of our graduates are the best proof that the international educational programs of KIU open amazing horizons for students, shaping in-demand specialists with a global mindset.
