Sometimes "walruses" appear on the beaches. Even in the rain, they swim in the downpour. And they all turned out to be tourists; Kazan residents prefer drier places in such weather. "You know, I open the season in May. I love cool water to refresh myself," said tourist Yuri from Moscow. "Swimming in the rain is just magnificent, as if blessed from above. You need to toughen up; you need to get used to conditions where it’s sometimes uncomfortable," noted tourist Olga Semechkina from Surgut. Seasonal businesses are losing profits. At "Lokomotiv," you can't rent a sunbed — they are chained, the point is closed. Pensioner Aysilu Gazizova monitors the weather forecast daily. The harvest, she says, has always been good. But this year there are concerns. Heat-loving vegetables have slowed in growth. Flowers cannot bloom. "It was hot in May, but it needed to be hot in June. Then everything would have been fine," noted Asiya Gazizova. Agrarians cannot dry hay; due to the rains, the pace of feed preparation has decreased. In some places, machinery finds it difficult to access the fields. But overall, the figures compared to last year are not bad. As of today, 98,000 tons of hay have been harvested, which is 31 percent of the need. "Every day of delay in feed preparation leads to a loss of nutritional value, resulting in decreased productivity and increased costs for purchasing protein feed additives. It is necessary to complete the first harvest of perennial grasses in the shortest possible time," noted the head of the department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, Siren Nigmatzyanov. "At the beginning of the week, the weather will remain unstable. Cold weather is expected. The republic will be influenced by the cyclone. This cyclone is currently located slightly north of the Caspian Sea and is moving from south to north. In the coming days, we will be under the influence of its frontal sections," reported Irina Trushina, head of the meteorological forecasts department at the Hydrometeorological Center of Tatarstan. For now, there is no hope for July, scientists say. "Now there will be a cooling because of the front with precipitation. Then warm air will come as the anticyclone over Europe breaks down," said Aysilu Mustafina, a candidate of geographical sciences and associate professor at Kazan State Agrarian University. Warming, but not summer heat, awaits us only in the second half of summer. As for August, meteorologists say it is still too early to talk about it.
