In the capital of Tatarstan, since the beginning of 2026, there has been a positive trend in the issue of settling salary debts to employees, although the total amount of unpaid funds is still in the tens of millions of rubles. As reported by RBC, citing a statement from the chairwoman of the economic development committee of the Kazan executive committee, Guzel Mingazova, in the first five months of the current year, businesses settled their debts to 173 employees, paying them a total of 44.1 million rubles. According to her, at the beginning of the current year, the situation was significantly worse: the total salary debt in the city reached 89.7 million rubles, and there were 471 people listed among the employees. According to the source, as of June 1, the volume of accumulated debts decreased to 45.6 million rubles, which is owed to 298 employees of eleven organizations, with 55 percent of them being still active companies, and 45 percent being economically inactive enterprises and official bankrupts. In her comment, Mingazova added that over the past and current years, salary debts in Kazan have been paid to 850 citizens for a total amount of about 125 million rubles. It was previously reported that Tatarstan earned 6.5 billion rubles in excise taxes on beer in the first five months of the current year, which is almost four times the income from strong alcohol.
