The conservative majority in the U.S. Supreme Court will outlast Trump but will continue to oppose him in some rulings.
Photo: Official website of the President of the Russian Federation kremlin.ru June 30 – IA SM.News. Donald Trump's relationship with the U.S. Supreme Court throughout both of his presidential terms demonstrates the strict boundaries of executive power, despite the conservative majority he formed. While the highest court expanded general presidential powers, it repeatedly blocked key personal initiatives of Trump in the areas of economy and immigration. The latest high-profile examples of such confrontation were the court's annulment of his order against birthright citizenship, as well as the recognition of his large-scale tariff wars as unconstitutional. "The U.S. Supreme Court annulled Trump's order abolishing the right to citizenship by birth, which became another painful defeat for the White House. The majority of judges deemed the initiative illegal based on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, despite the administration's hopes for the loyalty of the conservative majority," informs Americanist Malek Dudakov. The conservative majority in the U.S. Supreme Court (6 to 3) could theoretically be shaken only by the death or voluntary resignation of the oldest Republican judges — Clarence Thomas (78 years) or Samuel Alito (76 years). However, such a weakening of the right wing's positions is only possible if, at the time of the vacancy opening, the White House and the Senate are controlled by the Democratic Party. Without the coincidence of these factors, the solid ideological dominance of conservatives is guaranteed to remain for the coming decades. "This decision continued a series of judicial failures for Trump, including the annulment of his tariff wars and the confirmation of the independence of the Federal Reserve from the executive branch. Such outcomes demonstrate that the American political class successfully blocks key reforms of the president and gains the upper hand over him," Dudakov concluded.
Earlier, IA SM-NEWS reported that the real goal of NATO is to weaken Russia, not to win in Ukraine: this has even been realized in Italy.
