After the cold June, will the heat come? Meteorologists have provided a forecast for July.
Experts explained the reasons for the prolonged bad weather, assessed the consequences of the rains, and discussed whether the weather scenario will change.
Due to the bad weather in June, a landslide occurred, damaging vehicles.
In the first month of summer, the weather did not particularly pamper the residents of Tatarstan. June turned out to be rainy and cool. According to specialists from the Hydromet of RT, the cyclical activity in the region was very active, which affected the weather. "The average daily air temperature in June ranged from 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, depending on the area. In the Zakamye region and the northwest of Arsk, it was one degree below normal. Overall, the temperature in the republic was around normal or one degree below normal," said Felix Gogol, head of the Hydrometeorological Center of RT, to Tatar-inform.
In June, heavy rains hit the republic. In most areas, the precipitation was several times higher than the climatic norm. Therefore, various troubles ensued. "Overall, the total precipitation in June at different weather stations ranged from 65 to 152 mm or 125–250% of the monthly norm. The most precipitation was in the northwest of the republic, with Arsk receiving 2.5 times the norm. In Kazan, over 1.5 times the monthly norm fell within the month," noted Felix Gogol.
In Kazan, a heavy downpour occurred on June 23. The storm drains could not cope with the water flows; near the shopping center "Kol'tso," the water level rose to benches and trash cans, and on some roads, vehicles were literally "floating." On Vishnevsky Street, a landslide occurred – the ground, unable to bear the load, along with the hill and lawns, collapsed onto the roadway, blocking two lanes of traffic. Due to excess moisture in certain areas of the republic, crops were damaged.
"In June, a dangerous agrometeorological phenomenon was recorded – soil overmoistening. In the village of Akhtash in the Almetyevsky district, it has been noted since June 11 and continues to this day," remarked the head of the Hydromet Center of RT.
June made a striking conclusion on the last day of the month. Wind gusts of up to 22 meters per second knocked down three dozen trees in various districts of the republic, with the most damage occurring in Kazan. Vehicles were damaged. According to the Hydromet Center of RT, although there were many damages in the republic, the criteria for a "dangerous phenomenon" were not met by the strong wind.
"In July, the residents of Tatarstan will receive compensation in warmth."
After the coolness and heavy rains of June, the residents of Tatarstan will receive compensation in warmth in July, said Alexander Shuvalov, head of the forecasting center "Meteo," to Tatar-inform.
"There will be no repetition of what happened in June," he noted.
According to the forecaster, in the first half of July, thunderstorm rains are expected against a backdrop of temperatures reaching 25-30 degrees Celsius.
"This type of weather – warm, but with brief rains on certain days – will last until mid-month. Most likely, July will have a positive temperature anomaly," added Shuvalov.
According to him, thunderstorms are possible on July 9-10 and 13-15. On other days, it will be mostly dry, with "very good temperature conditions, exceeding the climatic norm by two to three degrees."
According to the forecast from the Hydromet Center of Russia, the average monthly air temperature in July in Tatarstan is expected to be half a degree above the climatic norm. The temperature norm for the second month of summer in Kazan is 20.5 degrees, while for the republic, it is 19.9 degrees. Precipitation is expected to be close to the long-term average values. The norm in Kazan is 63 mm, while for the republic, it is 56 mm.
"In the first decade of July, the overall temperature is expected to be one degree above the climatic norm. The norm for this period in the republic is 19.6 degrees, while in Kazan, it is 19.1 degrees," said Felix Gogol.
According to him, the significant change in weather that we are currently observing is due to atmospheric circulation.
"If in June, the prevailing winds in the republic were from the west, now there is a high-pressure area. Therefore, precipitation has ceased. The temperature background will gradually rise, and by the end of the week, maximum temperatures are expected to approach 30 degrees," noted Gogol.
Heat in Altai, coolness in Kuban, and unconfirmed tornadoes in Tatarstan.
Overall, the weather conditions across our country this summer are varied, noted Alexander Shuvalov.
"Very hot weather in Siberia. Altai has frequently topped the list of the ten hottest places. By the end of June, many maximum temperature records were set in the north – in Norilsk, Khatanga, and Salekhard," he said.
In the Far East, very hot weather has been observed at the end of June and now, with temperatures in Yakutsk reaching 32-33 degrees. In the European part of Russia and in the south, June was cool. In Kuban, Crimea, and the North Caucasus, a negative temperature anomaly and a large amount of rain were recorded, noted Shuvalov.
Summer is in full swing. In July and August, dangerous meteorological phenomena are possible with the passage of atmospheric fronts, forecasters warn.
"They occur when cold atmospheric air penetrates the heated surface of the territory. The sharp contrast and temperature fluctuations contribute to the formation of convective phenomena. These include thunderstorms, squalls, and hail. Usually, such phenomena are local, so they are not always recorded by weather stations," said Felix Gogol.
He explained that social media users posted photos of tornadoes in June. However, they were not recorded by the republic's weather stations. Therefore, their authenticity cannot be confirmed.
The head of the Hydromet Center of RT recommended that residents of Tatarstan planning to relax in nature check the weather forecast from reliable sources – Rosgidromet and the Hydromet Center of Tatarstan.
