The XXII Kazan International Film Festival will take place from September 4 to 8. The Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan summarized the results of the application campaign: 1,030 films were submitted from 66 countries — an absolute maximum in the history. For the first time, applications were received from Venezuela, Brunei, and Togo. The opening film will be Ramil Tukhvatullin's "Teacher," about the theologian Shigabutdin Marjani. The jury of the main competition will be headed by Iranian director Majid Majidi. The competition program includes 54 films, and a total of 146 films will be shown. For the first time, nominations for sound engineering and musical design have been introduced, and an award for the best national series will also be presented. A separate program "Ethnic Cinema. Growth Points" will take place at the Kazan Kremlin, and within the framework of the Days of Egyptian and Arab Cinema, unique content is promised. The acceptance of applications for the international pitching of film projects has started — its goal is to develop co-production with Tatarstan.
