The greening phase has started at Lake Kaban in Kazan.

      On the third section of the landscaped embankment of Lake Kaban, work has begun on planting vegetation. The overall construction readiness of the site has reached 69%. More than 92,000 specimens will be planted here – trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses, and aquatic plants. The project is divided into two thematic zones. The section along the Old Tatar Sloboda will transform into the "Blooming Shore" – where decorative apple trees, lilacs, spireas, and rowans will be planted. The second part – from Oktyabrskaya Street to Nazarbayev – will be called the "Green Shore." Here, the feeling of a natural, slightly "wild" landscape will be preserved with willows, bird cherries, sugar maples, and dogwoods. As explained by the head of the Department of the Institute for the Development of Cities of Tatarstan, Arina Petrova, this approach was born from communication with local residents – they value the atmosphere of a natural corner that can be accessed directly from the urban environment. The landscaping will be multi-tiered: trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers, as well as coastal flora. Currently, the first two levels – tree and shrub species – are being planted. All plants are grown in Tatarstan nurseries and are planted with a large root ball for better survival. At the same time, the non-native ash-leaved maple will be replaced with the local sugar maple, and all healthy trees on the site will be preserved – their condition has been preliminarily assessed by specialists.
