The work is synchronized with the major road repairs. Thus, the total length of the city's bike paths will reach 74.3 km. As of today, 63.3 km of bicycle routes have already been laid in Kazan. The first closed route appeared back in 2015 in the city center. Active development began in 2020 when bike paths started to be laid along the streets being repaired. In 2023, the Kazan Development Institute developed a concept for a unified bike network that aims to connect the fragmented sections. Priority routes include a circular route around the Kazanka River, a route from Lebyazhye to Derbyshek, and a connection from the center to the Universiade Village. Data from bike-sharing operators were used in the design, tracks of cyclists were analyzed, and the wishes of residents were taken into account. Last year, bike paths appeared on Tovarishcheskaya and Adelya Yeniki streets, as well as around the Ak Bars Arena stadium. Currently, monitoring of the implementation of the concept is underway, along with the preparation of proposals for new sections.
