Nadezhdin is a Russian politician and former deputy of the State Duma of the third convocation. Over the years, he has been a member of the Union of Right Forces party, later joined the federal political council of the Right Cause party, and then became a member of the Civil Initiative party. From 2019 to 2024, he was a deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Dolgoprudny urban district in the Moscow region.

      In 2024, Nadezhdin ran for the presidency of Russia from the Civil Initiative party. However, the Central Election Commission denied him registration as a candidate, deeming part of the signatures from voters in his support invalid. Later, the Supreme Court of Russia upheld the CEC's decision.
