The interactive exhibition for the 90th anniversary of "Soyuzmultfilm" has opened in Kazan.
The traveling interactive exhibition "Factory of Wonders," dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Soyuzmultfilm studio, has opened in Kazan. The exhibition has already visited Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. The exhibition is divided into several "workshops," corresponding to the stages of animation production. In the drawing zone, visitors see how the first sketches of characters are born, in the puppet animation zone – how static figures and decorations turn into living heroes. A separate block is dedicated to 3D technologies that the studio uses today. Almost all exhibits are interactive: guests can launch mechanisms, experiment with light and movement, and in the sound workshop – record character lines. An audio guide is provided for independent exploration of the exhibition. On the opening day, the first visitors – families with children – dispersed through the halls, trying to voice fragments of cartoons and examining the structure of puppet decorations. Dmitry Korotkov, advisor to the general director of the Soyuzmultfilm studio, thanked the team that worked on the project and noted that creating such an exhibition was a challenging task, just like animation production itself. "The project is unique. I hope that many Kazan residents will be able to visit it," he said. Interest was noticeable among both age groups: adults lingered at the stands, explaining to children how the films of their childhood were created, while children explored the digital tools of modern animation. "I would like to address those people who come here. Firstly, it’s a great chance for adults to feel like children again. Everything you see here is a reference to our childhood, to those phrases we grew up with, to memories associated with families, parents, and school. I think this is a good reason to remember yourself. Secondly – to diagnose how stable your mental state is. If you are reflecting, then everything is fine," said Irada Ayupova, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, with a smile. She also emphasized the educational aspect. "One of the main values of the project is to tell children that everything is in our hands. Any miracle can be made by ourselves. For this, inspiration is needed, one must want a miracle, one must have skills, develop, and, thirdly, one needs perseverance," Ayupova said. Azat Kadyrov, the Minister for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, called the exhibition an opportunity to learn about the inner workings of cartoon production. "It’s a great effort. We have talented screenwriters, artists, sound engineers in our country – all those who provide the miracle called a cartoon," Kadyrov said.
The "Factory of Wonders" started in Moscow on June 15, and opened in Nizhny Novgorod on June 27. During this time, more than 20,000 people have already visited the exhibition. After Kazan, the exhibition will head to Saratov, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, and Chelyabinsk, thus completing a large anniversary route. In each city, the project is accompanied by screenings of cartoons, thematic activities, and meetings with beloved characters – in Kazan, such events will take place daily, and master classes are planned for the weekends.
