IV Youth Scientific Congress of the CIS in Kazan: application deadline until July 15

      The time to submit applications is rapidly running out: until July 15, 2026, inclusive, young scientists from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries can present themselves at the IV Youth Scientific Congress in Kazan. In the fall, the capital of Tatarstan will unite researchers from around the world for the fourth time to kick off new discoveries, internships, and international collaborations. From September 30 to October 4, 2026, Kazan will once again become a center of attraction for young science. The IV Youth Scientific Congress of the OIC countries will take place at Kazan Federal University. This annual event has transformed over the years from just a conference into a full-fledged platform for scientific diplomacy, where international projects are born and partnerships are established for years to come. Over the years, the congress has attracted more than a thousand applications from dozens of countries. Its delegates have included researchers from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and many other countries. Such diversity creates a unique environment for sharing experiences and finding like-minded individuals.

      Real success stories: how the congress changes careers

      The significance of the event is best illustrated by the stories of those who participated last year.

      From a presentation to an international internship.

      Sadyk Ualikhan, a researcher at Suleyman Demirel University in Kazakhstan, presented his work on the application of artificial intelligence for lung segmentation in medical images at the 2025 congress and received the Best Paper Award. "After the presentation, there was an active discussion with experts from different countries," he recalls. But the main result was a fully funded research internship at COMSTECH, obtained through contacts made at the congress. Today, Sadyk is completing his PhD program and calls the congress "one of the important steps" in his international career. His experience proves that one presentation can be the beginning of a significant professional journey.

      From an idea to a real product.

      Nur Faridatul Syafinaz, a senior lecturer at Sunway University in Malaysia, presented her project PercaBata—eco-friendly bricks made from textile waste in the "Architecture, Design, Art" track. Her work won first place and the Best Research Award. "A simple idea can have a significant impact when supported by research and innovation," she believes. Now Nur intends to attract funding to bring PercaBata to practical application in construction.

      A platform to return to.

      Ilya Luryev, a graduate of the International Oil and Gas University named after Yagshygeldy Kakayev from Turkmenistan, has participated in the congress since its very first season. He presented a device for removing liquid from a well in the "Geology and Oil and Gas Technologies" track and took second place, which became a powerful motivation for him. "We have participated since the very first scientific congress every year, and each time we meet strong, passionate people, many of whom become true friends and like-minded individuals," he shares.

      Scientific directions for 2026

      This year, the work of the congress will unfold across six key tracks:

      - Biomedicine and Biotechnology;

      - Environmental Sustainability, Green Technologies, and Rational Natural Resource Management;

      - Artificial Intelligence and Digital Solutions in Education;

      - Architecture, Design, Art;

      - Modern International Relations and International Law;

      - Geology, Geophysics, Development of Oil and Gas Fields.

      The best research of the finalists will be published in a single collection of scientific reports, which will be a significant addition to the academic portfolio of participants.

      Who can apply

      Young researchers, scientists, and representatives of the academic community from OIC member and observer countries aged 18 to 35, who have a command of English at the B2–C1+ level, are invited to apply.

      Organizers and support

      The congress is organized by the Academy of Youth Diplomacy and Kazan Federal University with the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Strategic Vision Group "Russia - Islamic World."

      "Every year, the congress proves that one presentation can change a person's scientific trajectory—opening the way to an internship, publication, or joint project with a colleague from another country. We invite talented youth from OIC member and observer countries to take advantage of this opportunity," noted Dilbar Sadykova, chair of the Academy of Youth Diplomacy. Creating opportunities for young people to realize themselves on the international stage fully aligns with the goals of the national project "Youth and Children."

      How to apply

      Registration is open on the official congress website—app.kazanyouthsummit.ru. Applications are accepted until July 15, 2026, inclusive. Don’t miss the chance to become part of the international scientific community and take the first step towards great achievements.
