       The cost of the monthly grocery basket in Tatarstan has risen to twenty-three and a half thousand rubles, however, this figure is still below the average for Russia.

       In the Republic of Tatarstan, as of May 2026, a moderate increase in the cost of a fixed set of consumer goods and services used for interregional comparisons of the population's purchasing power has been recorded. According to data released on Monday by Tatarstanstat, in the last month of spring, this figure amounted to twenty-three thousand five hundred fifty-three rubles and sixty-one kopecks per person per month. Compared to April of this year, the cost of the basket increased by zero point three percent, and since December 2025, the increase has been three point six percent. At the same time, Tatarstan continues to be among the regions of the Volga Federal District with a relatively lower cost of the basic basket, with the average figure for the district being twenty-four thousand seventy-four rubles, while the overall average for Russia reaches twenty-six thousand six hundred seventy-two rubles. In neighboring regions, such as Perm Krai and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the cost of the basket is significantly higher. A few days ago, it was reported that in the Republic of Tatarstan, a sharp jump in retail prices for the so-called "borscht set" was recorded during the last reporting week, which ended on June 29, significantly impacting consumers' wallets. According to data from the weekly monitoring by Tatarstanstat, potatoes have risen the most in price, with the average cost soaring from 53 rubles 98 kopecks to 61 rubles 49 kopecks per kilogram, or by 13.6 percent.
