An artist from Tatarstan is creating a mural about family values for the 400th anniversary of Chally.

      In Naberezhnye Chelny, a mural is being created by the winner of the regional stage of the street art festival of the Volga Federal District "FormART." The artist Alexander Popov, whose sketch took first place among 96 works from participants in Tatarstan, has already outlined the future art object on the facade of the building, reports the press service of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic. The mural will appear on house No. 87A on Shamil Usmanov Street. The work will be one of the creative projects dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Naberezhnye Chelny. The artist plans to complete the main stage of the image creation by June 27. The Minister of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, Azat Kadyrov, noted that the "FormART" festival has long become not only a sketch competition but also a project through which new street art objects appear in cities. According to him, it is especially symbolic that in the anniversary year for Naberezhnye Chelny, the city will receive a mural dedicated to family values and the connection between generations. The basis of the composition is the story of passing traditions from the elders to the younger ones. The main characters of the drawing are a grandmother and granddaughter, cooking a national dish together. Through this plot, the artist shows the continuity of culture, knowledge, and family values. National ornaments and symbols of the peoples of Russia are also used in the design. In 2026, the "FormART" festival is held as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. 400 applications were submitted for participation in the VII season of the project from the regions of the Volga Federal District. Tatarstan is among the most active participants alongside Bashkortostan. In the summer, artists create their works in the regions, after which the residents of the district will be able to choose the best art objects of the season. Alexander Popov's mural will also be presented in the voting. The winners of the district stage will be announced in August in Kirov. The authors of the best works will receive grants ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles for further development of creative projects.
