      The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, appointed Olga Abramova as the acting head of Udmurtia. The corresponding decree was published on the website of legal acts. The head of state also accepted the resignation of the now former head of the republic, Alexander Brechalov. As noted in the decree, Brechalov himself announced the early termination of his powers as the head of the region. Until the next head takes office, the former acting chairman of the government of Udmurtia, Abramova, will temporarily perform the duties. "For me, this is, of course, a big, serious challenge and a huge responsibility. In this sense, I thank you for seeing such opportunities in me; this is very important for me. Of course, the team that has been formed in the republic today, what has been done, will allow us to move seamlessly forward in development," Abramova said at a meeting with the president. Putin, in turn, pointed out that the appointed leader already has experience, knowledge of the situation, and people. Previously, Abramova, according to the head of state, held the position of a deputy in the local council, worked in joint-stock companies, and various government structures. Brechalov led the republic for the last 9 years. Abramova previously headed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Udmurtia, held the positions of deputy chairman of the government of the republic, first deputy prime minister, and also performed the duties of the chairman of the government. In October 2024, she was appointed advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
