The men's and women's national teams of Russia in volleyball will participate in the Nations League - 2027.
Today it became known that the men's and women's national volleyball teams of Russia have been allowed to participate in the Nations League - 2027. This was reported by the FIVB website. "The FIVB continued consultations with stakeholders to develop a clear strategy for the return of Russian athletes and technical specialists from Russia to international competitions. As a result of these consultations, the International Volleyball Federation can confirm that the men's and women's national teams of Russia will participate in the 2027 International Volleyball Nations League as the highest-ranked teams that have not yet qualified for the competition. Only in 2027 will the number of teams in each gender category increase from 18 to 19. This will allow the women's team of Slovenia and the men's team of Finland, which were supposed to qualify based on their performances in previous seasons, to participate in the competition. The International Volleyball Federation is currently reviewing the competition format necessary to implement this expansion. As previously reported, in accordance with the IOC's recommendation, a special comprehensive anti-doping testing plan will be developed and implemented through the International Testing Agency (ITA). More detailed information will be provided in due course," the organization stated. Additionally, the Russian volleyball teams have been suspended from international tournaments since 2022.
