Tatarstan ranked ninth in Russia in terms of public catering turnover for the first five months. The revenue of cafes and restaurants in the republic approached 46 billion rubles.
The Republic of Tatarstan maintained its position in the top ten Russian regions in terms of public catering turnover for January-May 2026, despite a nationwide decline in traffic in this sector. According to the data released by Rosstat, the total revenue of restaurants, cafes, bars, and canteens in the region amounted to 45.7 billion rubles over the five months of the current year, allowing the republic to take the ninth place in the national ranking. The absolute leader in this indicator, with a colossal lead, remains Moscow, whose turnover exceeded 600 billion rubles, followed by St. Petersburg in second place, and the Moscow region closing the top three. The Krasnodar Territory and Sverdlovsk Region also made it into the top five. As noted by the information portal "Real Time," Tatarstan has consistently remained in the top 10 regions by public catering turnover for the third consecutive year. The statistics include revenue from the sale of its own culinary products and purchased goods without culinary processing, sold both on-site and through delivery; however, only large organizations that do not belong to the subgroup of small business entities are included in the sample. It is known that in 2024 and 2025, the republic ranked sixth and eighth, respectively. Earlier, experts calculated that as of July 1, 2026, Kazan confidently secured the ninth position in the national ranking of cities by the volume of multi-apartment housing being constructed in the region, continuing to increase the pace of construction.
