      The Ministry of Finance of Russia published data on the state of the National Wealth Fund at the beginning of August. According to the agency, the volume of the NWF amounted to 12.72 trillion rubles (5.4% of the projected GDP for 2026), which is equivalent to $159.3 billion. The liquid assets of the fund increased over the month from 3.61 trillion to 3.69 trillion rubles (1.6% of GDP), or $46.2 billion. In July, the NWF funds were converted:

      1,632.2 million rubles — into 158.9 kg of gold in dematerialized form;

      529.7 million rubles — into 47.1 million Chinese yuan.

      Income from placing funds in foreign currency accounts at the Bank of Russia for the period from December 15, 2025, to July 31, 2026, amounted to $62.2 million (4.97 billion rubles). The exchange rate difference on foreign currency assets and the revaluation of gold from January to July resulted in a total of 67.2 billion rubles.

      

       Real Time / realnoevremya.ru As of August 1, 189.7 billion yuan and 141.2 tons of gold were placed in the NWF accounts at the Central Bank. Also, in July, 0.1 million rubles from the fund were directed to co-financing pension savings.

      It was previously reported that the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation proposed to reduce the maximum period for the realization of seized property from 100 to 44 days.
