      Specialists in the forestry sector of Tatarstan have begun harvesting seeds of the weeping birch. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic. The work is provided for by the regional project "Forest Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan," part of the federal project "Forest Conservation" under the national project "Environmental Well-Being," noted Alsu Antonova, the leading advisor of the forest reproduction and afforestation department of the Ministry of Forestry of the RT. "According to the plan, this year it is necessary to collect 805 kilograms of seeds from birch, ash, and linden. After processing, the raw materials will be stored in specialized warehouses. In the future, the seeds will be used to grow planting material in the nurseries of the republic," the specialist said. According to her, since the beginning of the current year, 2026, employees of the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the RT – forestry enterprises have collected 1,174 kilograms of seeds, including 617 kilograms of pine seeds, 342 kilograms of spruce seeds, and 215 kilograms of other species. The harvesting of forest plant seeds is among the additional indicators of the regional project "Forest Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan." The next stage of work will be the collection of acorns from oak trees. The overall plan for harvesting forest seed raw materials in the republic for the current year is set at no less than 11,455 kilograms.
