President of the Polish Volleyball Federation: "Russians will not receive visas to Poland"
The President of the Polish Volleyball Federation, Sebastian Świderski, commented on the Russian national team's refusal to participate in the men's World Championship 2027, which will take place in Poland. He stated that the decision from the Russian side removes organizational difficulties but noted that entry for Russian athletes into the country would have been impossible. "I don't want to say that I am pleased, but it feels like a weight has been lifted from my heart. Of course, it would not have been easy to organize this championship. No one can guarantee their safety. This is somewhat of a Solomon's decision, but it was made without us. I am glad that the proposals from many countries, including ours, yielded results," Świderski's words are quoted by sportowefakty. He also emphasized that the position of the Polish authorities was unequivocal: "All ministries and our government made it clear that Russians would not receive visas to enter Poland." At the same time, Świderski did not comment on the motives of the Russian side. "This is their version, and they can explain it however they want. What actually happened? That is already a question for the Russian Federation," he added. Responding to a question about possible matches involving Russia, the federation president noted that a decision would be made later. "If such a situation arises, we will meet with the government to know how to behave. As of today, there is no rush to make mandatory decisions," he summarized. It is worth noting that earlier the Russian national team refused to participate in the World Championship, citing a lack of security guarantees. The International Volleyball Federation allowed the Russian team to participate in the tournament; however, its participation faced resistance from the Polish authorities.
