      The inmates of IK-5 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan have become finalists in the XXIII All-Russian Song Contest "Kalina Krasnaya". Kalina Krasnaya is the largest cultural event in the country involving individuals serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty. It has been held annually for almost a quarter of a century and concludes with a final gala concert of the winners. However, since 2020, the results have been announced in a remote format. The winners are determined by the Artistic Council, which includes representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the production company "Soyuz Production", as well as invited experts from the music industry. This year, 166 video recordings of musical works from 78 regions were submitted for the second stage of the contest, from which 27 best performances were selected. Among the winners was the creative association of inmates from IK-5 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan "Fifth Element": Foat Bilalov, Ilya Konovalov, Nikita Gubanov, with their original song "I Am Still the Same". The award ceremony will take place on September 15 at the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia via videoconference. It is worth noting that this year, for the first time, special nominations will be awarded: "Best Video", "Best Performance", "Song Sung from the Heart", and also "Audience Choice Award" based on online voting.
