Filming has begun in Tatarstan for a movie about the poetess Sazhida Suleymanova.

      In Tatarstan, the filming of the feature-length documentary-drama film "Sajida" has begun, dedicated to the life and work of the poetess Sajida Suleymanova. The project is timed to the centenary anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2026, and is being implemented with the support of the "Energy of Good" grant from the TATNEFT Charity Fund. The director of the film is Alexander Dalmatov, and the script was written by Alsu Khabibullina and Rezeda Khairtdinova. The executive producer is Rail Safin, the composer is Milyausha Khairullina, and the consultant is the poetess's son Anvar Malikov. The general partner is the TATNEFT Charity Fund. The project is being carried out under the patronage of the Center for Contemporary Tatar Culture "Tamga."

      The film covers all key stages of Sajida Suleymanova's fate: childhood, war years, work in Almetyevsk, teaching activities, the flourishing of creativity, and the struggle with illness. To visualize the story, staged scenes are being filmed with the participation of actors from the Kamal, Menzelinsk, and Almetyevsk theaters. The role of the poetess is played by Alsu Kayumova, Zarina Safina, and Tansylu Akhmadeeva. Filming is taking place in Kazan, Almetyevsk, and the Tatyshlinsky district of Bashkortostan.

      For the film, interviews and memories about Sajida Suleymanova have been recorded. The stories were shared by the chairman of the Writers' Union of Tatarstan Rkail Zaidulla, people's writers Renat Mukhamadiyev, Renat Kharis, Radif Gatazh, as well as writers Daniya Zagidullina, Foat Galimullin, and others.

      The filming is supported by the Kamal Theater, the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Gabdulla Tukay Museum, the RT State Museum of Fine Arts, the Union of Composers of Tatarstan, and other institutions. Composer Milyausha Khairullina is writing two new songs to the poetess's verses, which will be performed by singer Albina Ishmurzina.

      "The creativity of Sajida Suleymanova has long become a national treasure; her poems and songs 'Ursal Tau,' 'Tuy Jyry' are known in all corners of the republic. Our task is to translate this cultural code into the language of contemporary cinema. We are creating not just a biographical reference, but an emotional film that will resonate with viewers of all ages," notes director Alexander Dalmatov. The film will contribute to strengthening the role of Sajida Suleymanova's creativity in the context of Tatar literature.
